Digestion Technology

The facility was built by the Austrian company Thoeni on behalf of Aberdeen City Council.

The system uses a series of large tanks which are kept sealed and odour free. Inside the tanks, the material is gently stirred to make sure the microorganisms can get to work and turn waste into renewable energy. The site uses the unique, patented, Thoeni semi-dry TNV system.
